There is truly nothing better than spending the day relaxing at a Swedish style spa. There are so many spas to visit in and around Gothenburg that it can be hard to decide which to visit first. To make your choice easier, here is a list of the top 10 spas to visit near Gothenburg, Sweden.

Smögens Hafvsbad
Smögens Hafvsbad is located on the small fishing island of Smögen. It is North of Gothenburg but can be easily reached by car or bus. They boast one of the best brunches on Sweden’s West Coast – something you can enjoy by staying overnight or taking their Morgonsol package. The spa has an indoor and outdoor pool, several saunas, a jacuzzi and an amazing outdoor swimming area for your cold dip.

Arken Spa, Spa in Gothenburg
Arken Spa is located a little more centrally, on the Hisingen side of Gothenburg. This spa is a great place to visit if you don’t want to travel too far from central Gothenburg. They have hot and cold springs, an outdoor pool, a sauna and a jacuzzi!

Falkenberg Strandbad
Falkenberg Strandbad is located in the small city of Falkenberg, south of Gothenburg. It is easily accessible via public transport or by car, and is definitely worth the extra travel time. Falkenberg Strandbad, I would say, is the most impressive of the spas near Gothenburg. The decor is tropical, almost to the extent you feel you are no longer in Sweden. They have an two indoors pools, a sauna, an outdoor pool, jacuzzi and heated green house.

Marstrands Havshotell
Marstrands Havshotel is located on one of West Sweden’s most popular islands – Marstrand. On the edge of the harbour, there is a floating sauna where you can enjoy a great view of the harbour and the fortress opposite. Inside there are hot tubs and a pool to swim in!

Ästad Vingård
Ästad Vingård is definitely the most unique of the spas near Gotheburg. It is located 20 minutes from the city of Varberg on an old cow farm turned vineyard. Here you can visit the spa, but also their ecological restaurant and winery. The spa itself is like walking around an old Swedish village, with small wooden houses covered in green mossy roofs. There is an amazing underwater sauna with a lake you can swim in, outdoor hot tubs and saunas. In total, there are 8 saunas, 2 rain rooms and 2 pools!

Haga Badet, Spa in Gothenburg
Haga Badet is the most central of the spas in this list, located in Haga, the oldest part of Gothenburg. Although Haga Badet does also have several other locations, the original is the best in my opinion. They have a range of saunas, thermal pools to enjoy as well as a gym that you get access to with your spa pass. For visitors to Gothenburg, haga Badet offer a 1, 3, or 7 day spa pass where you can access all of their spas and gyms.

Tanum Strand Spa Hotel
Tanum Strand is located nearby a few of my favourite fishing villages on Sweden’s West Coast – Grebbestad and Fjällbacka. I think that Tanum Strand is the perfect summer destination, with a big harbour to dock your boat, and hotel rooms and cabins to stay in. It’s the perfect spa destination for big families of a coastal weekend away. They have two pools, and a children’s pool with a waterslide, saunas, a rooftop jacuzzi and even a sauna on one of the docks.

Upper House Spa, Spa in Gothenburg
Upper House spa undoubtedly boats the coolest pool of all the spas central to Gothenburg. Located on the upper floors of Gothia Towers, Upper House Spa has a pool that sticks out of the building, where you can swim above the city with an amazing view of Liseberg. The spa itself has three pools, a sauna, and a yoga studio.

Varberg Asia Spa
Varberg Asia Spa is located in the city of Varberg, just south of Gothenburg. It is a Japanese style spa with a tropical rain shower, several saunas and pools. They offer many different experiences, including a Japanese spa ritual and a foot bath. Varberg Asia Spa is a part of Varbergs Stadshotell so you can finish off your experience with a luxury hotel stay.

Vann Spa
Vann Spa is located north of Gothenburg in a picturesque corner by the water. The spa is quite large and popular with conferences. It is a great place to visit if you are looking for an all-around spa experience. What makes Vann Spa special is its range of themed pools, all with different scents and sounds to match the atmosphere and temperature of the water. There is also a sauna, outdoor pool, and outdoor sauna perfect for relaxing after a dip in the lake.
